Crazy about Hip-hop at Parkson

 

To mix vibrantly with the atmosphere of the approaching summer, Parkson Vietnam in collaboration with the Department of Culture – Information and Tourism, Ho Chi Minh City, organized the second Hip-Hop Ho Chi Minh contest, the Parkson Vietnam Cup. A similar contest was held in Hai Phong, which brought a dynamic and exciting playfield for young people to get ready for a new coming summer.

Held at the campus of the department store complex Parkson Flemington, the contest has attracted an audience of thousands of people to cheer and attend it every single night. It has become young people’s cultural activity of central importance during the week  in Ho Chi Minh. City 3 night performances and competition have left the audience with a good impression of the youth’s creativity and personality .

The contest is part of a series of Parkson summer activities to create a playground for the young people to show their talent and passion for Hip-hop. The atmosphere of the finale is not only heated up by  the contestants’ steps but also stirred up by  the young audiences’ enthusiastic applause. The fans are very enegentic, extremely excited when the dance crews performed theirs routine in 2 different categories – B-boy and showcase.

 

 

After two days of fire burning competition, the best 12 crews entering the finale took turns performing. These moves were not only technically difficult but also full of ideas. In B-boy genre, 4 crews: the A-crew, Big Mast, Free style 1, BigSouth 1, they faced off in a balanced contest/close competition. However, A-crew and Big Mast are the best crews, they have been given high scores by the judges to face off in the finale.

 

The boys in B-boy category  have shown all of their  personal talents  so that they can  express themselves best without losing the group’s solidarity . Finally, A-team crew with a more impressive performance, better music enjoyment has won the grand prize in this category.

With regard to the showcase category, 4 crews – Game On & A , Baby Oh, Street fire, Funk Masters are close to each other in terms of level and skill. For example, Baby Oh were assessed as having an idea of  impressive costumes when disguising themselves as terrorists and showing good team spirit, Game On & A crew showed a better musical experience and more professional styles. The close competition between Game On& A and Baby Oh in the finale has put pressure on the judges to decide the winning team. After nearly 10 minutes of waiting under pressure and intensity in the excitement of thousands of people in the audience,Game On & A became the champion of the Showcase category with 20 million VND reward and  gifts from the sponsors.

 

The remaining teams with one second prize received 10 million VND and three third prizes of both two categories  received 5 million VND each.  Apart from that, all other teams taking part in the contest in Ho Chi Minh City also received gifts from the Parkson’s partners  as  Parkson Eastpak sporting items and Gym membership card for team members .

The contest has attracted the youth to  participate in the competition for the audience, the fans have shown their talent and passion for Hip-hop. Besides that, hundreds of fans were shouting with encouragement to the very "Hip hop" presentation by Quân Rapsoul.

 

Mr Tham Tuck Choy - CEO of Parkson said "With this competition, we hope  that through these confident and creative moves, young people will be ready to start an exciting and dynamic summer. In addition, we expect that the competition will encourage young people to practice dancing because this practice is not only for entertainment but also for health training and fun/enjoyment.
